![]() The Region of Madrid is a very popular tourist destination as well as many other things. For many centuries a meeting point for many different cultures, it offers a great deal of cultural, leisure and entertainment activities to please the millions of people who visit it every year. Its capital, the city of Madrid, with its cosmopolitan air and its growing amount of tourists who visit it the whole year round, still is the open city it has always been and its well known night life has not lost any of its vitality. This modern air harmoniously contrasts with its important old quarters and its cultural traditions. Its great transportation network enables us to reach any place easy and quick, adding to this the best and most exclusive hotel accomodation offer. Tradition and vanguard live together harmoniously, welcoming a dynamic and modern society. The Region of Madrid is a must if you want to get to know the Spanish culture. ![]() Madrid is, surprisingly, a relative newcomer to the city break scene as it is a seductive city, famous for its zest for life. Architecturally it has some very important essential sights and is a fascinating city to explore, especially around the Old Madrid of the Habsburgs including Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Culturally, the art scene is right up there with the Prado Museum remaining as the city's major cultural attraction (arguably the best art gallery in the world) and Picasso's 'Guernica' in the Reina Sofia Museum being the number one exhibit. Madrid is also a great place to see the traditional Spanish arts, with the largest bullring in the world (Las Ventas) and a flamenco scene which is up to the traditional flamenco cities of the south. Strolling through Madrid is a great way to see the lavish Royal Palace, the 16th-century Puerta del Sol (Sun's Gate) marking the center of Spain, the old Moorish quarter of Moreria and much more. Art enthusiasts flock to the famous Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza and Reina Sofia museums. Families enjoy boating in Retiro Park and visiting the zoo and the amusement park in Casa de Campo. After eating paella and tapas and watching flamenco, night owls can dance at clubs that are open until dawn. Most of the Autonomous Region of Madrid has a continental climate with average temperatures during September with about about 73.4ºF (23ºC). ![]() The conference will take place at the campus of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, placed to the north of Madrid in an open space and with excellent connections with the city. Inside the campus the conference will be held at Escuela Politecnica Superior (which was recently built following a modern desing). Address
